Assistant Head Coaches

Chery Criscuolo

Cheryl is a 1982 Graduate of Monmouth University with a BA in Fine Art. She was born in South Amboy, N.J. in 1959 and moved to Point Pleasant after getting married in 1986. While at Monmouth she was a full-scholarship swimmer under Coach Dick Steadman. College swim credentials include Monmouth University Athlete of the Year 1978, National Champion and record holder in the 200 yard butterfly, Sixteen- time NCAA All-American and Monmouth University Sports Hall of Fame inductee class of 2009.

Cheryl was coaching and lifeguarding along the Jersey Shore throughout her college years with various summer swim clubs including Takanassee and Tradewinds in Monmouth County and Frog Hollow Swim Club in Middlesex County's, South Amboy. She began coaching age-group swimmers in year-round programs shortly after her four children began swimming competitively.

Coach Cheryl was named head coach for the newly formed co-operative high-school swim team comprised of students athletes from Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach in 2003. Her girl's team earned consecutive Shore Conference B Division South Championships. She was named Asbury Park Press' High School Coach of the Year in 2006.

Cheryl lives in Point Pleasant with her husband Paul of twenty-three years and their four children: twin daughters Andrea and Julie, Melissa and Paul jr.
All three daughters have participated in competitive swimming with the Barracudas since late 2003 when they joined the team. It was at this time in 2003 that coach Cheryl joined the coaching staff.

Coach Cheryl has a passion for working with age-group swimmers. Passing on the knowledge she has gained from her own experiences as a former swimmer and coach is the most satisfying part: watching the swimmer develop into a competitive athlete with a solid work ethic, and knowing that this will help them meet life's challenges head-on with integrity and character.
